Literacy

Speech Pathologists see children with literacy difficulties. This includes – reading, spelling, comprehension and writing issues. Often a phonological awareness test will show poor knowledge of early literacy skills. Speech Pathologists then work with your child to improve skills such as; sounding out new words when reading and spelling, understanding what has been read, and expressing ideas through writing. Early literacy skills including basic phonics are often required to be taught when a child is having difficulty learning to read using alternative methods. See a Speech Pathologist if your child is having difficulty learning to read.
